Description: Born into a family of bow makers in Saxony, Hermann Richard Pfretzschner found an early interest in bow making. He learned the fundamentals of the trade from his father until later moving on in 1872 to study under the notorious Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume. After completing his internship with Vuillaume, he returned to his family business until setting up his own atelier in Germany. In 1901, the Royal House of Saxony honored him with the title of “purveyor of the Saxonian court”. He was later named a purveyor to the court of the Grand Duchy of Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach.
This particular bow is in excellent condition. It is a very strong bow and produces a dark, powerful tone. Weight: 86.5g.
