Description:Louis Thomassin learned his craft in Mirecourt where he worked for the Bazin Family. In 1872 he went to Paris to work for François Nicolas Voirin and carried on Voirin's shop after his death. He established his own workshop in Paris in 1891. Louis Thomassin's bows are of beautiful and precise quality and this particular example is no exception.
The stick is round and has a length of 72.85 cm. It is of an orange-brown pernambuco which has a few random figurations and is of excellent quality. The model of the head is typical of Thomasson’s work from this period. The frog is of ebony and silver and has a mother of pearl eye in each side. The button is in three-piece form and its collar has a single cut. At this time this bow is in excellent condition. Weight: 58.7 grams
