Description: Claude Auguste Tomassin was born in Mirecourt, France to a family of saddle, bow, and violin makers. At the age of eighteen, he completed his training with C.N. Bazin and moved to Paris to work for the Gand & Bernadel firm. While in Paris, his work consistently improved and was influenced by the greatest European bow styling at the time. Often praised for his prolific yet astonishingly high quality bows, he is one of the most prominent French bow makers. This particular bow bears the makers brand stamp. The stick is round with an orange-brown pernambuco of excellent quality. The frog is of ebony and nickel-silver with a mother-of pearl eye in each side. The button is in 3 piece form. The bow is in terrific condition and since the mountings are of nickel, this bow is a terrific opportunity to purchase Thomassin's work at a bargain price. Certified by Paul Childs.
