Description: Joseph Kun was born in Czechoslovakia but later moved to Ottawa, Canada in 1968. He began crafting fine bows around 1972 and is credited with training Reid Hudson in the late 70’s. Joseph won many awards throughout his lifetime and has co-authored “The Art of Bowmaking” along with Joseph Rech. He also is the inventor of the Kun shoulder rest which many musicians use to this day.
This particular bow is an excellent example of Kun’s finest work and is in near mint condition. The round stick is mounted with gold and ebony fittings. The frog has a mother-of-pear eye encircled by a gold ring in each side. The button is made of ebony with gold bands on either side with mother-of-pearl panels between.
