Description: Charles and Samuel Thompson were born and raised in London and grew up in a violin making family. Their father, Peter Thompson, began the family firm named “Thompson & Sons" and ran it until the sons took over in 1763. The brothers changed the firm’s name to “Charles and Samuel Thompson” which lasted until 1790. After Samuel’s death in 1794, the family business continued until ultimately closing in 1805.
This particular example of their work is really lovely with a gorgeous one-piece back. The sound is powerful and rich with a very mature and complex tone. Back Length: 35.7 cm.
