Maker: Gennaro (Januarius) Gagliano
Description: Son of Alessandro Gagliano, Gennaro, also known as “Januarius” Gagliano produced some of the finest instruments of the family. He was born in 1690 and was even believed to have worked along side Stradivarius in his early youth.Although he was not a prolific maker, his work is known for its fine detail and personal character. This particular violin is in excellent condition and a great example of Gagliano’s personal flare and fine craftsmanship. The violin has a dark, rich tone which is quite pleasant to the both the player and audience's ears. The back length is 35.5 cm. It is certified by Rembert Wurlitzer,1955 and Robertson & Sons, 2007.
