Description: Born in Mirecourt, 1841, Charles Jean Baptiste Collin-Mezin apprenticed under his father, C. L. Collin. He soon became an excellent repairman and commenced to make his own instruments. He was later awarded gold and silver medals at the Paris exhibitions of 1878, 1889, and 1900. In 1884, he was named Officer de l’Académie des Beaux-Arts. His work follows after the patterns of Stradivarius, Guarnerius, and Amati.
This particular violin is in excellent condition and produces a dark, powerful tone. Back length: 35.9 cm.
