Description: This cello crafted by Eric Benning, and previously owned by renowned cellist Ronald Feldman, is made with beautiful Bosnian maple which has been in our family for over 3 generations. The top of Italian Spruce is from the 1920’s. This Stradivarius model comes from Carl Becker of Chicago, Eric’s Great-Uncle. The varnish is a light, red-orange color over a golden ground. This cello has a deep, rich and powerful tone on the bottom strings and a colorful and penetrating, upper register. Suitable for the finest cellists and those who are aspiring.
Since joining the Boston Symphony Orchestra's cello section at the age of 19, cellist Ronald Feldman has received critical acclaim for a wide variety of musical achievements. Feldman has appeared as cello soloist with many orchestras, performing a wide range of concerto repertoire, as well as having numerous chamber music affiliations. His performances include collaborations with artists Emmanual Ax, Garrick Olsen, Gil Shaham, and Yo Yo Ma. Feldman has also achieved critical acclaim for his work as conductor.
Ronald Feldman has performed on this cello for over 100 concerts.
