Description: Son of Emile Auguste Ouchard, Bernard Ouchard began crafting bows at the young age of 13. He moved to Paris with his father in 1941 where he incorporated the Hill-style underside into his making. After serving his country in WWII, Bernard joined the Vidoudez firm in Geneva, Switzerland, on the recommendation of Lapierre. In 1971, he left the firm and became a professor of bow making at the Ecole de lutherie in Mirecourt.
This particular viola bow is in near mint condition with wonderful ivory and silver mounting. It has a weight of 71.0 grams. This bow was made for the bow exposition in Liege, France in 1954. It bears the expo brand on the audience side of the stick. Certified by Paul Childs of NY, NY.
