Description: Geoffrey Ovington began crafting instruments out of the plans he found in a book in 1973. He then moved to New York City and, under the guidance of James Coggin, began making instruments professionally. He moved to Shushan, Washington in 1981 where he continued his studies of violin making.
This particular viola is in excellent condition at this time. A beautiful Maggini style viola with double purfling and intricate inlay in the back. Beautifully clear and rich, powerful tone for such a comfortable body size. Back Length: 39.5 cm 15 1/2 in. String Length: 35.6 cm 14 in.
