Description: Albert William Fischer was born in Waukegan, Illinois in 1912. At the age of 19 won the Coach Building Competition sponsored b the Fischer Body Craftsman’s Guild. His was one of 64,000 entries. With this award came a $5,000 university scholarship. Worked as a research and development engineer for General Motors. Self taught violin maker. Used mostly domestic wood and Terpene-resin varnish. His instruments are excellently crafted. He received a certificate for tone at the 1978 VSA competition and a certificate for tone at the 1982 VSA competition.
This violin is in excellent condition and has a beautiful, slab-cut maple back and sides. This is violin #11 made in 1975.
The sound is rich and powerful.
