Description: A beautiful violin by the celebrated maker Nicolaus Gagliano from Naples, 1765. Worked circa. 1730- died 1787 Naples Italy. Son of Alessandro Gagliano. More prolific than his brother Gennaro, his work often showing great distinction. Bold and well-proportioned archings. This particular example is nice and broad with flatter archings allowing a bright, penetrating tone. Owned by a prominent violinist. Back Length: 35.3 cm. Certified by Johann Stubiger, Wien 1935; Kenneth Warren & Sons.
