Instrument Type: Violin
Item #: 000-947
Year: 1916

Maker: Romeo Antoniazzi
Description: Romeo Antoniazzi (1862 – 1925) may have been taught by his older brother Riccardo. Romeo appears to have worked alternately for his brother, on his own, for Leandro Bisiach, and Monzino and Sons. The peak of his career dates from the end of the 19th century, but signed work from this period is rare, as his instruments were mostly for other firms.
This violin is an exceptional signed and labeled example by this maker. The violin appears to have gone through the shop of Giuseppe Ornati in the 1950’s, where Ornati went over the violin’s setup and construction and made some adjustments to the original work. The violin includes a certificate by Giuseppe Ornati.
This violin is magnificent sounding. Rich and powerful with a solid core to the sound. Back Length: 35.6 cm.
