Description:This gorgeous Viola d’amore was made in collaboration by Hans, Nancy and Eric Benning in 1997. The flat back is fashioned from seasoned, Bosnian maple with stunning figure. The top is made from Italian spruce and has a rosette carved into the actual top. The scroll was carved by Eric Benning and depicts Bacchus, the Roman god of Wine and theatre. The pegs were made by Emil Lorenz of Bubenreuth, Germany and are made of the finest Egyptian Boxwood carved into an intricate pattern. The end button and pins for holding the sympathetic strings are cleverly hidden into the rib structure at the bottom and covered with a matching maple door so the hooks do not bother the player. 7 top strings and 7 sympathetic strings. This d’amore has a rich, strong and lovely tone.
The instrument comes with a Jaeger case which was custom made for this d’amore. Back Length: 40.4 cm. String Length: 36.8 cm.
