Violinist Kristine Whitson

Kristine_WhitsonA versatile and accomplished violinist, Kristine Whitson has been a member of the LA Phil since 1990. She started playing the violin and piano at the age of four, and soon became a prodigy who performed in various venues across the US and Europe. She made her solo debut at six, playing a Mozart concerto in Germany. She also won several concerto competitions as a young musician in Florida.

Whitson received a rich and diverse musical education from some of the world's finest teachers and institutions. She studied at the Menuhin Academy in Switzerland, Indiana University, Kneisel Hall in Maine, and the Music Academy of the West. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Performance from the New England Conservatory. Her mentors include Betty Haag, Almita Vamos, Esther Glazer Hoffman, James Buswell, Zvi Zeitlin, Joseph Silverstein, Aaron Rosand, and Alberto Lysy.

In addition to playing with the LA Phil, Whitson has also participated in its Green Umbrella and Chamber Music series. She enjoys exploring different genres and styles of music, and sharing her passion with audiences of all ages and backgrounds.
